Long time visitors
of ARC may recall that I have a penchant for aircraft with special colour
schemes, especially “Tiger Meet” artwork.
In his latest decal
release Robert Schneider from MC-ONE (www.mc-one.ch)
has produced a very limited run of 100 sheets of a particularly attractive Swiss
Air Force F/A-18C.
Since 11 Squadron is
nick-named “Tiger Squadron”, it is natural that their aircraft should sport
such adornments.

Although the aircraft in
question, J-5011, has previously sported a Tiger Meet tail for the 2004 Tiger
Meet (decals for this version were released by The Aviation Workshop http://www.theaviationworkshop.co.uk/decals/premierplus/MAS-9011.php)
Unfortunately, this artwork was not carried out using paints which did survive
the rigours of high speed jet flight, and as such it had to be removed.
In early 2007 this aircraft was
again adorned with a Tiger tail, but this time it was performed by a
professional airbrush artist, Stefan Beutler, using paints suitable for high
speed jet flight.
The MC-ONE decals are designed to
fit Academy’s superb new F/A-18 kit, and are of terrific quality. As this is a
very limited release, those interested in this set should contact Robert via his
website www.mc-one.ch
to secure a set. Full details, including a large number of photos of the actual
aircraft, can be viewed at: http://www.mc-one.ch/Documents/right%20stuff/dokuments/F-18/F-18-1.htm.
