1/48 Academy F-15E

This kit - as with most Academy kits - is simply "money well spent".  It may not have the detail of kits twice its price, but what a fine kit it is.  No fit problems, it looks like an Eagle, but there is one major problem.  If you follow the paint scheme for the Squadron indicated, you will have a "what if" scheme simply because all "E" Eagles are in the 1 tone Battle Ship Gray Scheme.  Luckily I found this out before I started the decals, so this bird became the "B" version which McDonald Douglas dressed up to show their future "E".  This aircraft was McDonalds work horse and was eventualy repainted so many times that a ground crew member was heard to remark that the paint on her was so thick that it actually had texture!

Paints used were Life Colour Acrylics on the camo and Alclad on the metal bits. Plenty pastels and Oil washes for the weathering. This kit is 99% OOTB, the only additions are some Gear hoses and a few Cockpit enhancements.
